Josephine T. Gilardi, 90 of Providence Court Apts., 379 East St., Pittsfield died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Pittsfield on July 6, 1926 a daughter of the late Ralph and Teresa (Mondelli) Maffuccio. She attended Pittsfield schools. Josephine was first employed at the Wyandotte Woolen Mill and then at Royal Plating Co., Mohawk Beverages and lastly at Haddad Rug Co. for many years and she retired in 2011. She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church. Josephine enjoyed going to casinos and playing bingo. She was the widow of Richard C. Gilardi who died on July 6, 2011 and they were married on November 30, 1946.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Gilardi and his wife Marianne of Pittsfield, David Gilardi and his wife Linda of Pittsfield, one brother, Armand Maffuccio of Pittsfield, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Josephine was predeceased by one brother, Frank A. Maffuccio and by one sister, Donna M. Briggs.


Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Josephine T. Gilardi will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 400 West Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 with the Rev. David Aufiero, Administrator officiating. CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD AT THE CHURCH from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. An inurnment service will take place at St. Michael Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
