Condolences & Tributes

Lorraine was my cousin and I just learned of her passing. She did the Beauchamp/Circe/Lussier family tree for our family and I was so sad to hear she had died. We kept in touch by cards and letters all these years since childhood. I will miss her. LBL
Loretta Beauchamp Lussier - Tuesday April 04, 2017 via Condolence Message
I am a graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the recipient of the 2013 Lorraine B. Maloney Service Award through the MCLA Center for Service and Citizenship. My undergraduate experience was highly shaped by the dedication to community engagement instilled within me during my time at MCLA and in North Adams. I'm very thankful for the role models like Lorraine B. Maloney that came before me who set the foundation of service and volunteerism at MCLA and in North Adams. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you to Lorraine and her loved ones for all that you've done for the North Adams community.

I extend my deepest sympathy to all of Lorraine's family. It was with deep sorrow that I read of Lorraine's passing. We have shared a friendship for many years. I was hired as an instructor in the Education Department in 1970, and Mr. Raymond Sullivan was the chairperson of the Education Department, and Lorraine was the secretary of the department. She was a very special friend and colleague, and I always envied her ability to answer phones, attend to students' needs, attend to faculty needs, and be typing on the IBM Electric Typewriter. Yes, she invented multi-tasking. Lorraine was so professional, organized, and supportive of our students. She always took the time to be a wonderful ambassador of North Adams State College/ MCLA. Many years later, when she was an assistant to the President of the College, she came to one of our meetings of the Education Society. It meant so much to me when she said, "Neil, you and your students in the Education Society have represented our college so well." She knew how to give compliments when they were deserved. Hopefully today, MCLA has some professionals that can strive to meet Lorraine's achievements. Neil N. McLeod, Ed.M Assistant Professor of Education 1970-2002.

Lorraine Maloney is a legend to me. I go to work everyday guided by her spirit and dedication to community building. Lorraine is the vision behind MCLA's current Center for Service and Citizenship, which she founded during her time working at North Adams State College. Lorraine's impact and legacy is so strong at MCLA that there is an annual Lorraine B. Maloney Spirit of Volunteerism Award. We will all continue to honor her vision and work towards a more beloved community. Thank you Lorraine for inspiring us all. My love and condolences to the whole Maloney family. Spencer Moser

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We both remember Mrs.Maloney from North Adams State in the education department as Helen worked with her for 4 years when she was a student from 71 to 75. She taught us a lot about life as we were dating. She was Helen's mom away from home. When we found her on Facebook we rekindled our frienship and loved seeing her like our posts. God Bless All!

Dan and Glenn, I knew your mom when I was a student at North Adams State College. She was one of the nicest, most pleasant people I ever knew and dealt with. I am sorry to learn of her passing and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. I know she will be missed. May she rest in peace.
