Obituary for Shirley Ann Barry (Burns)
Shirley Ann (Burns) Barry, 90 of North Adams, MA died Friday April 21, 2017 at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in North Adams, MA on October 15, 1926 daughter of John "Rub" and Eileen (Bailey) Burns. She attended North Adams schools and graduated from the St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1944. Shirley also attended the Bliss Business College.
She first worked at the James Hunter Machine Co. and was last employed as a clerk in the Mayor's Office at North Adams City Hall. Shirley also worked at the Berkshire Council on Alcoholism in Pittsfield.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Incarnation Church and Holy Family Church. She was a life member of the St. Francis Rosary Society. Shirley was a longtime volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital. She enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of Waubeeka Golf Links.
Survivors include four daughters- Marie Trudeau of Stamford, VT; Nancy Barry of Enfield, CT; Janice White and her husband, Kent of Roswell, GA; and Teresa Boucher and her husband, David of North Adams; and one son- Richard E. Barry and his wife, Paulette of River Forest, IL. She also leaves nine grandchildren including Erin Barry Bayer, Michael Barry, Daniel Trudeau, Jeffrey Trudeau, Curtis Boucher, Collin Boucher, Paul White, Nathan White and Sarah Gaziano; and fifteen great grandchildren including Jack, Brianne, Elliana, Ayla, Jackson, Sawyer, Benjamin, Madeline, Bella, Jackson, Ava, Emmy, Gatsby, Keely, and Hadley; and one sister- Joan Burns Reopell of Shaker Heights, OH; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son in law- Daniel Trudeau and a brother and sister including Marjorie Cutler and John Burns Jr.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Shirley Barry will be celebrated Friday April 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
