Obituary for Annette Cecile Triquere (Triquere)

Annette Cecile Triquère
February 16, 1933 - April 25,2017 (84)
Soprano, actor in musical theater, pianist, educator, Columbia University graduate, and civil rights activist Annette Triquère passed away in peace on Tuesday, April 25, surrounded by loved ones and the love of those who could not be there but had her in their hearts.

Daughter of Harry and Anne Triquère, Annette grew up in Queens, New York, and received her Master's degree in Education from Columbia University. She taught at Long Island public schools and in private practice as a vocal coach. She supervised the Long Island Core program, one of the early civil-rights organizations on Long Island. A regular in the local musical theater scene, Annette was a lead and featured performer in dozens of productions, and served as vice president of Isle of Shoals Productions theater company, for which she appeared in several off-Broadway productions. During her later years, Annette relocated to Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she remained active in her performing career -- performing in the Williamstown Theater Festival, serving as a member of the Bennington Choral Society, and singing with the Williamstown First Congregational Church choir -- which was capped off by a one-woman vocal performance which she also curated.

Annette is survived by son Chris, his wife Liz and children Dylan and Chelsey, of Chandler, Arizona; daughter Erin, her husband Richard and children Kelly and Sarah, of Williamstown, Massachusetts; and daughter Peggy and her child Abigail, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

A lover of animals, plants, music, and theater, Annette was dignified, with a sharp wit and an enormous laugh. Annette was truly one of a kind. Her children ask you to join them in remembering what a tremendous woman she was. A memorial gathering will be held to honor her life, at a date to be announced.
