Obituary for Lawrence Royal Lewis
Lawrence Royal Lewis, 81 of North Adams, MA died Wednesday August 30, 2017 at his home.
He was born in North Adams, MA on July 17, 1936 son of Ralph C. Lewis and Lucille Rose (Martin) Lewis Jarvis. He attended local schools and graduated from the Drury High School.
Larry was last employed at Mass College of Liberal Arts for six years until his retirement. Previously he worked at Sprague Electric Co. and retired from General Electric Co. in Pittsfield after working there for several years. Larry also worked for many years as a driver and funeral assistant at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a former usher at St. Anthony of Padua Church where he was a member of its Eucharistic Adoration. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed family picnics and trips to Maine.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Barbara Ann "Honey" (Campedelli) Lewis whom he married on July 27, 1957 and two sons- Michael D. Lewis and his wife, Nancy of North Adams and Richard L. Lewis and his wife, Annette of Stamford, VT. He also leaves three grandchildren including Nicole Rondeau and her husband, Gary of Travis AFB, CA; Sarah Hurlbut and her husband, Kyle of Clarksburg and Kaileigh Lewis and her fiancé, Marcos Rodriguez of North Adams; and six great grandchildren- Gary Rondeau, Ella Rondeau, Dakota Hurlbut, Owen Hurlbut, Inali Rodriguez, and Alex Rodriguez; and one brother- Ralph Lewis and his wife, Virginia of North Adams; his sister in law- Pat Campedelli of North Adams and is also are survived by his Aunt, Sarah Molleur of Adams; and cousins including Tom Molleur and his wife, Gloria, "Gigi" of Adams; Christine Nimmons of Adams; Ellie Fitzgerald and her husband, Pete of CT and Estelle Macek and her husband, James of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother in law, Joe Campedelli and his sister in law, Carole Campedelli.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lawrence R. Lewis will be celebrated Tuesday September 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Monday from 4-7 PM.
