Obituary for Mildred Dorothy LeSage (Pause)
MILDRED “Millie” (PAUSE) LE SAGE, 94 passed away on August 31, 2017 at Southern Vermont Medical Center. She was born on October 28, 1922 at home in Springfield, MA. She was the eldest daughter of the late Herman and Elva (Danio) Pause. Millie attended schools in Adams.
Millie’s first job was sewing for the WPA and then in 1938 she went to work for Decker’s Cleaner’s. Due to lack of transportation the family moved to North Adams. Kaplan’s Bakery was Millie’s first job in North Adams and there she met her future husband, Pat LeSage. Pat and Millie were married at 10a.m. in the morning of June 10, 1944. After a honeymoon in New York City where the lights on Broadway were turned off because of WWII restrictions (Blackout), the couple settled in North Adams.
Millie found a job pressing dresses in local dry cleaners including, Sun Cleaners, Petri’s Cleaners and General Cleaners. Millie worked for North Adams Regional Hospital for 20 years. She entertained all with her NARH stories. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Friends of the North Adams Public Library. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Millie was predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Arthur William Pause, her husband, Patrise Gideon LeSage, and her son, Arthur Herman LeSage, age six weeks. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Pytko, of North Adams; her sons, Gerald P. LeSage of Littleton, NH and Armand H. LeSage (Mary-Justine Lanyon) of Blue Jay CA. and daughter, Nancy A. LeSage, with whom she made her home in Stamford, VT. She also leaves her grandchildren, Daniel M. Potvin, Jesse Potvin, Rene Potvin, Marcel Potvin and Anisa Potvin, Margot Regan (LeSage) and her husband Shawn , Amanda (Lanyon-LeSage) Kramp and her husband Andrew and her great grandchildren, Stella Regan, Sophie Potvin, Athena Potvin, Aura Potvin, Orion Potvin, Audrey Potvin, Milan Nelis Potvin and Evan Potvin and Felix Kramp and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mildred D. LeSage will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 10a.m. in the St. John Bosco Church in Stamford, VT. Burial will follow in the Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the Dominican Retreat and Conference Center in Niskayuna, NY or the Friends of the North Adams Public Library in care of Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, MA.
