Obituary for Marion Lois Beverly (Pierce)

Marion Lois (Pierce) Beverly, 88, of Stamford, Vermont passed away peacefully on Thursday October 12 at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in North Adams, Mass on January 30, 1929 she was the daughter of James and Bertha (Dolle) Pierce. She attended Clarksburg Schools and graduated from Drury High School

Marion worked for the North Adams Bank until her marriage to the late Leon Murray Beverly on March 22, 1952. They began a great adventure of raising five children. She loved hiking and camping. They lived in California for two years and hiked some of the highest peaks in the west and toured many National Parks. She climbed New Hampshire’s Mt Washington more than a dozen times with Leon and their friends, even on winter campouts and later her children would come along too. When Leon took up road racing she joined him during a time when women were not usually racing. Marion worked as an assistant to the Stamford Town Clerk and an assistant in the medical office at MCLA. An active member of the Stamford Community Church she prepared the weekly bulletin for over 25 years. Later in life she and Leon traveled in their RV through Canada and all over the US from Florida to the Pacific. She was a devoted Mother always putting her love for her family first and this love will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marion was the widow of Leon Beverly who passed away on August 5, 2012. Marion is survived by her five children and their spouses, Diane (Richard) Schultz of Boston, Dale (Bonnie) Beverly of Golden, Co, Judith (John) Creeron of Huntington NY, Glenn (Mary) Beverly of Clarksburg and Chris (Albert Pulver) Beverly of Ossipee, NH; five grandchildren, Jennifer Senecal, Stephen Beverly, Gregory Snow, Jocelyn Creeron, and John Creeron. Two great-grandchildren Logan and Alexis Senecal; her brother and sister in law James (Elaine) Pierce of Clarksburg, Her sister in law Dorothy Beverly, her brother in law Francis Smith, many nieces and nephews and her good friend Gerald Dubois.

The family wishes to extend a warm thank you to all of Marion’s caregivers. Special thanks to Debora Lefave whose companionship enabled Marion to live in her home for many extra years. We would also like to thank the staff of Williamstown Commons for their gentle compassion in Marion’s final year.
