Obituary for David Paul Zerbato

David Paul “Zip” Zerbato, 50, of Pittsfield, passed away Saturday October 14, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born June 5, 1967 to Alice Zerbato of Lee and the late Mario Zerbato. He graduated from Lee High School in 1985 and earned his degree in Sports Management from UMass Amherst. In 1994 he began working for the American Hockey League and the Albany River Rats as a marketing representative. He went on to work as Branch Manager of Adecco Staffing in Pittsfield. He was co-founder of ZipStohr Promotions, producing comedy shows to benefit local charities.

He married his wife Sherry (Green) Zerbato on October 2, 1999. Zip was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. For many years he managed and played in the men’s softball league. His greatest passion was coaching his sons, as well as others in Pittsfield South Little League, and Babe Ruth, teaching them lessons both on and off the field. Family meant everything to him. He continued the tradition of his father’s annual July 4 picnic and “Firecracker” jarts competition with family and friends. One of his favorite holidays was the annual Zerbato Christmas Eve gathering. He will be missed by his family, countless friends and the baseball community.

Besides his wife, Sherry of Pittsfield, David leaves two sons, Zachary and Camden, both at home, his mother Alice Zerbato, his brothers Robert (Lynn) and Alan; his in laws, Donald and Linda Green; his sister and brother-in-law Michelle and Michael Snyder; as well as many nieces and nephews.
