Obituary for Dorothy M. Lavigne Quaglietti (Smith)
Mrs. Dorothy M. (Smith) Lavigne Quaglietti, 96, formerly of 176 Columbus Ave. Berkshiretown Apts., Pittsfield, MA passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Springside Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Pittsifeld.
She was born in Burlington, Vermont on March 9, 1921 a daughter of George O. and Maryellen (Roach) Smith. She graduated from Converse Elementary School in Burlington, VT and from Burlington High School in 1939. She moved to Pittsfield in 1970. Dorothy was employed by former England Brothers for 13 years and retired in 1985. Dorothy also was a avid seamstress and knitter. In 1985 she moved to Hinsdale where she was a Election Officer for several years. Her first husband Ashley H. Lavigne died on June 2, 1958 and they were married on September 28, 1940. Her second husband Carlo P. Quaglietti died on October 29, 2006 and they were married on March 16, 1979. Dorothy was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and a former member of Sweet Adelines, Pittsfield Senior Citizens and Golden Seniors, and enjoyed Traveling, Knitting, Singing and Dancing.
Survivors include two brothers; Williard F. Smith of Burlington, VT, and Robert F. Smith and his wife Mary of Brunswick, ME; a sister Shirley Mercia and her husband, Leonard of Essex Junction, VT; sister-in-law, Rita Smith of Burlington,VT; four Grandchildren, Cheryl Reed, Sunny Lavigne, Crystal DiLeo, Sarah J. Lavigne; two Great Grandchildren, Shane Reed, and Jared Reed, along with several Nieces and Nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by three sons, Robert A. Lavigne, Mark D. Lavigne, Bradley T. Lavigne, a daughter Patricia Ann Johnson Gabaldon; a sister Irene Hams and a brother, Kenneth G. Smith.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 17, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, 414 North St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Monsignor Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
