Richard Hazen Reed, 78, of North Adams, MA died on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. He was born in Ridley Park, PA on March 14, 1939 a son of the late Richard Hazen and Emma (Poey) Reed.
Mr. Reed attended schools in North Adams, MA and graduated from Drury High School. He went on to attend North Adams State College. He was employed by Brewer Brothers, and later at Sprague Electric as an Electronics Technician, where he worked for many years. He was last employed at the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute in the security department.
Mr. Reed was a member of the First Congregational Church in North Adams. He was on the Board of Directors for the Landmark Credit Union, and was a member of the North Adams Country Club. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies.
Survivors include his wife Jo-Ann (Quimby) Reed, whom he married on June 22, 1968. He also leaves sons Brian H. Reed and his companion, Katie Goodermote of North Adams; and James L. Reed of the State of Florida; grandchildren Brayden and Jase Reed; as well as his brother Robert Smith of the State of Florida.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Richard Reed will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:00am at the First Congregational Church, 134 Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
