Obituary for Bernard Joseph Robert

Bernard Joseph Robert, 96 of North Adams, MA. died Sunday December 31, 2017 at his home. He was born in North Adams on January 3, 1921 a son of the late Arthur and Rosanna (Lemoine) Robert. He graduated from the former Notre Dame School. Bernard was a decorated veteran serving during WW II with the United States Army he was wounded in Germany and received the Purple Heart.
After his military career he returned to North Adams and was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. he was last employed for several years for the Massachusetts Highway Department. Bernard was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in North Adams and was an avid handyman specializing in electronics. His wife Gertrude (Pedercini) Robert whom he married April 11, 1942 at St. Anthony Church in North Adams died April 17, 1997. Survivors include five sons Richard Robert and his wife Dianne, Glenn Robert and his wife Lisa, Donald Robert, Gary Robert and his wife Mary and David Robert and his wife Karin and eleven grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters Annette Duprat and Irene Fischlein and one brother Arthur Robert. Bernard was predeceased by a son Bernard J. Robert Jr. one grandson Jacob W. Robert and a sister Florence Cummings.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday January 8, 2018 at 11 am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will full military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery.
