Obituary for Mario "Milo" B. Cimini

Mario “Milo” Cimini, 98, of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 with family nearby. He was born in Pittsfield, the son of Benedetto and Pellegrini (Caropresso) Cimini. He attended Pittsfield public schools and graduated from Pittsfield High. He was employed at the General Electric Company for more than 45 years. Milo served in the United States Army Infantry in Germany during WWII. As a member of the infantry, he was engaged in many conflicts. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge which he wore proudly throughout his military career. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and retired after 40 years of dedicated military service to his country. He is predeceased by his first wife, Grace Catalano Cimini who passed away on August 5, 1975, and his second wife, Shirley Crosier who passed away December 15, 2010. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands: Patricia (Warren) Archey of Lenox, Marie (Michael) Ustin of E. Baldwin, ME, Jacqueline (William) Crane of Bridgewater, MA, Pamela (Robert) Cole of Westbrook, ME, and Jean (David) Lang of New Orleans, LA, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was happy to share his life and love with Shirley’s children, Robin and Jeffrey Crosier, Shirley’s grandchildren, Mark, Jeff and Kevin and 5 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brothers, Benedetto “Ben”, Arthur, Frank and Luigi “Lou” Cimini and his sisters, Adeline Renzi and Jeanette Hamel. Mario was a man who enjoyed life and the outdoors, and shared that love with family and friends. He loved hunting, golfing, bocce, and fishing, and was always eager to teach young children how to bait a hook, and to share in their excitement. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed snowmobiling, and cross country skiing throughout the Berkshire Hills. He loved to dance, anything from Ballroom to the Polka. Mario was a great gardener and shared his knowledge with those around him, and enjoyed being with people and making them smile. During the last three years he resided at Melbourne Place in Pittsfield where he was famous for his amazing energy and stamina. He had a knack for making everyone feel special. Ninety eight years is a long time, but not nearly long enough.
