Obituary for Eileen Mary Steele (Walker)

Eileen M. Steele, 84, of South Williamstown, died early Saturday morning, February 3, 2018. Eileen had a full and adventure-filled life with many dear relatives, friends and clients throughout the Berkshires and around the world, with 68 global locations logged in her travels. She was born in North Adams to Basil and Agnes Walker, and was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School, class of 1951.
Eileen was the co-proprietor of Business Accounting and Tax Services (BATS) for over 40 years with her sister and best friend, Nancy Walker, providing small business accounting services throughout the greater tri-state area. She was a communicant of Sts. Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown, MA. Eileen was an international student exchange host and a safe haven for many youth throughout her life. Her home will always be remembered as a warm and welcoming Grand Central Station, with a 24-hour open door policy with dinner (and wine) at the ready for family, friends, and strangers alike. Her backyard pool became the unofficial community pool of South Williamstown, with 32 children having learned how to swim, according to her diligent records.
Eileen's husband Robert (Bob) Steele, who she married on April 12, 1952 in St. Raphael's Parish in Williamstown, MA, predeceased her on February 18, 1994. She is also predeceased by her sister Nancy Walker and her oldest daughter Lynn S. Latson. Eileen is survived by brothers-in-law Stuart Steele (Sue), Arthur Johnson, sister-in-law Janet Hall (Martin), daughter Kim Steele, son Robert Steele (Jennifer), granddaughter Tessah Latson (Jarrett Garcia), Tom Steele (Melissa), Evelyn Haddad (Mike), Robert Jeremy Latson (Vikki West), great-grandchildren: Krystal, Adrian, Grayson, Olive, and Aiden, along with several dearly loved nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday February 10, 2018 at St's Patrick & Raphael Church in Williamstown at 10 am. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southlawn Cemetery, South Williamstown. There are No calling Hours. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested and payable to the North Adams Ambulance Service or through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA.
