John Joseph DeMarco 91 formerly of Pownal, Vermont died Thursday April 5, 2018 in Manchester, Maine. He was born in North Adams on March 15, 1927 a son of the late Giuseppe and Antoinette (Mondero) DeMarco. John attended schools in North Adams. He was a decorated veteran of WWII serving with the United States Navy. John was employed for over 37 years at the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a machinist. He was a communicant of St's Patrick & Raphael Parish in Williamstown and a member of the Williamstown VFW.
His wife Dorothy (Danaher) DeMarco R.N whom he married September 4, 1950 died January 30, 2007. Survivors include two daughters MaryAnne D. Ponti and her husband Michael of Manchester, Maine and Donna Dupras of Adams. Two grandsons John Michael Ponti and Nicholas Danaher Ponti and two great-grandchildren Alessandra Rayne Ponti and Luca Michael Ponti. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John predeceased by two brothers and four sisters Toni and Carmen DeMarco, Evelyn Sherman, Josephine Greenbush, Lucy Darling and Rose Bard.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for John DeMarco will be celebrated Monday April 9, 2018 at 11am at St's Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown. Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
