Sylvia Dorothy (Albrycht) Duquette, 71, of Cheshire, MA died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT with her husband by her side. She was born in Hancock, MA on September 29, 1946 a daughter of Vincent and Dorothy (Rennell) Albrycht.
She attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School. In her younger years, she worked as a seamstress and then went on to work as a medical assistant in Dr. Thomas McGrory’s office for many years. At the time of her death, she was working as the bar manager at the Adams Elks Club.
Sylvia was a member of the Adams Elks Club, the North Adams Eagles, the Adams Turners, and the Adams Mountain Club. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, spending time with family, gambling and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Duquette; as well as her daughter Deborah Mekdeci and her fiancé, William Gardner Sr. of Adams; sons Thomas Hartman and his wife, Sandra; and Vincent Hartman and his wife, Kristen both of Adams; nephew Troy O'Dell and his wife, Maria; brothers Vincent Albrycht of NM; and Herbert Albrycht of FL; sisters Rosella Gotzens of FL; and Vinetta Brazil of NM; twelve grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Robert Duprea, as well as her brother Raymond O’Dell, and sister Leona Alcombright.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Sylvia Duquette will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00am at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – WEST Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the funeral home.
