Obituary for David A. Shaker

David A. Shaker, 95, a former long time resident of North Adams, MA, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, FL.
He was born in Danbury, CT on May 29, 1923, son of the late Abraham and Julia (David) Shaker. He attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School class of 1941 and Bryant University in Rhode Island.
Mr. Shaker was a decorated veteran, serving in the US Navy during WWII where he was stationed aboard the USS Lexington, earning ten battle stars and the Presidential Citation.
He worked as a financial manager for General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 35 years and also served as the assessor for the City of North Adams.
David was the past president of the Lebanese Social Club; the Exalted Ruler of the Elks and president of the Eagles. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion of North Adams. He was communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
His first wife was the late Wanda Mary (Ellis) Shaker, whom he married on September 20, 1947. She died on January 6, 1986. His second wife was Pauline (LaPine) Lloyd Shaker, whom he married on June 20, 1992. She died on July 30, 2008.
Survivors include daughters Debra (Tom) Wiencek of Adams, MA and Diane (Rick) Heard of Boca Raton, FL; sons David (Karen) and William (Kate) Shaker both from PA and Robert (Terry) and Richard (Louise) Shaker of Pittsfield, MA and daughter-in-law Lillian Shaker of North Adams, MA. He also leaves sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who he cherished more than anything in this world. He was predeceased by his beloved son James Shaker who died on April 22, 2018; as well as sisters Rita Shaker and Mae O’Brien; and brothers - James, Alfred, Edward, Marshall, and John.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of David Shaker will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 9:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Sunday August 12th from 2-5 PM. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of David Shaker and can be sent to the funeral home.
