Obituary for Joseph J Magnone

Mr. Joseph J. Magnone, 79, of North Carolina, formerly of Hinsdale, MA. died on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born in Woodside, New York on December 18, 1938 a son of the late Caesar J. & Frances S. (Poje) Magnone. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1957.
Joseph was a decorated veteran of the US Navy from 1959-1973 where he was assigned to the USS Forrestal upon leaving his air station in Norfolk Virginia. He was then was transferred to USS Essex carrier and finally was transferred overseas and later discharged and worked for General Electric company for five years. He then worked for the Massachusetts highway department in Lenox for 24 years and retired due to disability in 1997.
Joseph was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton, was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, a member of the Lifetime Disabled American Veteran Chapter 15 of Pittsfield, Dalton VFW Post 9566, 3rd degree member of Monsignor Eugene Marshall Knights of Columbus, Council #103, and a fourth degree member of Bishop Conaty Assembly of Berkshire County. Joseph was also an avid sports fan for stock car racing.
Joseph leaves one sister, Francine Gitto of Tryon, North Carolina and a niece Suzanne Crawford of Tryon, North Carolina.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A liturgy of Christian burial to celebrate the life of Joseph Magnone will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 9:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5-7 PM at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencievenga Funeral Home- 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
