Obituary for Jean Ann Dignon (Bannish)

Jean Ann (Bannish) Dignon, 95 of Pownal, VT died Friday August 24, 2018 at her home.
She was born in Westfield, MA on May 19, 1923 daughter of Michael and Mary (Beckert) Bannish. She graduated from Westfield High School and also graduated from the Gaugh School of Business in Springfield.
During World War II, Jean worked at Foster Machine Co in Westfield and after moving to North Adams she worked at Modern Studios. She was last employed at North Adams State College for over 30 years and for the last 13 years as assistant to the vice-president.
Jean was a communicant of Sts Patrick and Raphael Church and was a member of its Ladies Guild and a 65 year member of its choir. She was a member of the Friendship Club and was an active volunteer with Hospice, the Clark Art Institute, Williams College Museum of Art and the Williamstown Theater Festival. Jean enjoyed dancing and walking.
Survivors include her husband James M. Dignon whom she married on September 9, 2010 and two daughters- Mary-Ellen Holtzman of East Durham, NY and Pamela Collins of Centerville, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren- Michael Megaro, Colin Megaro, Meghan Holtzman, Lindsay Holtzman, Matthew Megaro, Maggie Megaro, and Abby Megaro; four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, "Tuppence". Her son, Francis Megaro is deceased and fourteen brothers and sisters are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jean Dignon will be celebrated Thursday August 30, 2018 at Sts Patrick and Raphael Church. Burial will be private. A calling hour AT THE CHURCH will be Thursday morning from 10-11 AM.
