Obituary for Joseph William Bolte

Joseph William Bolte, 92 of Savoy, MA died on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Turtle Creek, PA on June 4, 1926 a son of the late Joseph F. and Stella May (McCollough) Bolte.
Joseph was a decorated veteran of World War II, where he served as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army. He received several medals for his service including the Purple Heart.
He worked as a machinist for many years at Hunter Machine, and later at WR Grace in Adams until he retired in 1988. He loved the rural setting of his home in Savoy.
He was the widower of Margaret Mae (Erb) Bolte, whom he married on June 26, 1948 in Herman, PA. She died on October 20, 2000.
Survivors include his sons Joseph Gary Bolte and his wife, Theresa “Tess” of Douglas, MA; and Kenneth E. Bolte and his wife, Linda of North Adams, MA; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law Robert W. LaBonte; brothers George, Daniel, Henry “Huck”, and Vincent Bolte; as well as sisters Virginia Smith; Nancy Kradel; Rita Rozic; and Leona Shearer. He was predeceased by his daughter Barbara LaBonte who died on May 28, 2018; his son Galen J. Bolte who died on June 16, 2003; grandson Brandon LaBonte who died in 2005; brothers Harold and John Bolte; as well as his sisters Betty Rago; and Cecelia Bronder.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joseph Bolte will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Notre Dame-St. John Paul II Parish, Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 11 from 4-7 PM at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS – WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
