Obituary for Rose A. Blasioli (Cataldo)
Rose A. (Cataldo) Blasioli, 90 of Pittsfield passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at Springside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born in Pittsfield on July 26, 1926 a daughter of the late Carlo and Virginia (Gentile) Cataldo. Rose attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944 and also graduated from Berkshire Business College for Secretarial & Bookkeeping. She was employed at the General Electric Company as a production Control Clerk for 29 years and retired in July 1986. Rose was a member of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge No. 564 and was past financial secretary for 10 years. She was also a member of the Italian American Club of Pittsfield, General Electric Quarter Century Club and Pensioners Club, St. Anne's Society at St. Joseph's Church and was also a past officer at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center. She was a member of the former Mount Carmel Church and its Ladies Guild and was currently a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Rose was an avid bingo worker & player and loved all sports. She was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed watching wrestling and the Army & Navy Football Games on television. Rose met her late husband, Joseph B. Blasioli while he was on furlough with the United States Army through his late sister, Sr. Lucia Blasioli MPV and they were married on November 15, 1947 and he passed away August 26, 1993.
Survivors include her children, Joe Blasioli Jr. and his wife Patty, Ginny Coppola and her husband Jerry and Steve Blasioli, her grandchildren, Lisa Puffer, Lori Blasioli, Lynna Williams, Thomas Coppola, Nicole Blasioli, Kristin Coppola, Allyson Blasioli and great grandchildren, Madelyn & Jonathan Puffer, Caysen Blasioli, Chase & Parker Williams, her brother, Carl Cataldo of Brentwood, NY and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her longtime companion Thomas Piacenti of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by her brother, Francis "Frank" Cataldo.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will take place Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 8:30 A.M. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, 414 North St., Pittsfield with the Rev. Monsignor Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling Hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, January 11, from 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to St. Joseph's Church Sharing of the Roots Meals in care of the funeral home.
