Obituary for Ronald G. Superneau

RONALD G. SUPERNEAU, Longtime BUSINESSMAN and CIVIC LEADER, 79, of North Adams, MA died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home. He was born in Worcester, MA on May 22, 1937 a son of the late Albert F. and Madelyn (Smith) Superneau. He attended school in North Adams, graduating from Drury High school in 1955. He was an All Berkshire in Football and Baseball. He was a decorated veteran serving with the US Marines.
Mr. Superneau was employed in construction and was part of the construction crew that built the Greylock Bowl. He then obtained ownership of Mt. Greylock Bowl in North Adams, MA. He managed the bowling alley for 45 years. Mr. Superneau was a longstanding member of the North Adams School Committee for 32 years; he also served on the McCann Building Committee. He was honored by the Massachusetts School Committee Association with a lifetime achievement award. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He coached the Rotary Little League baseball team for 15 years. He was a lover of all sports and enjoyed bowling, golfing at Waubeeka Golf Links where he recorded a hole-in- one on the 7th hole - the same hole where his wife was later struck by lightning. He was very active in the Greylock Club, a longtime fan of the San Francisco 49ers, a member of the American Legion, and later a member of the Retired Men’s Club. His greatest joy was attending his grandchildren's and family events. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Superneau was married to the former Marilyn "Sue" (Law) Superneau whom he married on August 20, 1960. Mr. Superneau leaves three daughters, Sandra Cote and her husband, Steven along with their children Kelsey and Tyler Cote of Clarksburg; Terri-Lynn Superneau and her daughter, Dakota Hurley of Adams; and Julie Davine and her son, Austin of North Adams. He leaves a daughter-in-law, Beverly Superneau, the wife of his late son, Gary Superneau who died in 2016 and their children, Shelby and her fiance, Nick Gale, and Michael Superneau. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Robert Superneau.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ronald G. Superneau will take place at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams, MA on Saturday February 11th, 2017 at 10AM. Calling hours will be held on Friday February 10th at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, from 4-7PM.
