Obituary for Jane Kanelos (Harding)
Jane (Harding) Kanelos, 85, of Dalton passed away on February 18, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on September 29, 1931, at the family’s South Williamstown home, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Hazel (Works) Harding Mangano. She attended Williamstown schools and then worked at Sprague Electric Co., prior to meeting her husband, Gus Charles Kanelos, of Adams.
The couple married on December 28, 1957, and Jane became a devoted homemaker for her husband and their two children, Michelle and Jim. She had a knack for decorating, arts and crafts, and an eye for the latest styles, but spending time with her grandchildren was her true passion.
Despite her husband’s passing in 1970, and coping with her own very long illness, it was Jane’s passion for her family that gave her daily strength and encouragement; she was a true fighter.
She leaves her son, Jim Kanelos, and his wife Rebekah, of Georgia, and daughter, Michelle, and her husband John Kasala of Dalton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Christopher and Cassandra Kanelos, along with Christopher’s fiancée Clea Vasilakis; and Kyle, Nicholas, and Brianna Kasala. Jane leaves four sisters, including Barbara Donovan of Adams; Nancy Grady of Williamstown; Kimberly Slade of Dalton; and Wendy King of North Adams; her brother, Donald Harding of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and William Harding, a sister Ruth Lisee, and her stepmother, Eva Harding.
Jane’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Craneville Place of Dalton for their loving care and concern. We would also like to thank Berkshire Medical Center for their kindness and support.
