Sally Lynne (Belding) Bird 55, of 162 East Rd. Adams, MA. died unexpectedly on Friday January 3, 2014 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. She was born in North Adams on June 21, 1958 a daughter of Betty (Francis) Belding and the late Holice F. Belding. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1976. Sally also attended Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Williams College. At the time of her death she was employed as the Administrative Coordinator of Faculty Affairs in the Dean of Faculty's Office at Williams College. Sally also was the former owner and dance instructor of the Sally Belding School of Dance in North Adams for several years, and she and her husband were the co-owners of the Subway franchises in Adams, North Adams, and Williamstown. She was a longtime member of All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. Sally was an accomplished dancer and had a successful audition with the Radio City Rockettes in New York City. She was crowned Miss Northern Berkshire in 1976, First Runner Up Miss Vermont in 1978 and was Miss Massachusetts Most Talented Non Finalist. Sally's greatest joy was raising her two sons and participating and supporting all their extracurricular activities through the many booster clubs. Survivors include her mother Betty (Francis) Belding of North Adams. Her husband Frederick "John" Bird Jr. whom she married June 25, 1983 in St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. Two sons Matthew J. Bird and Tanner C. Bird both of Adams.
Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Sally Bird will take place Friday at 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Church 59 Summer St. North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling Hours are Thursday from 3-8 P.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Ma.
