Obituary for Henry Ernest Irace

MR. HENRY ERNEST IRACE, 91 of 33 Lyman St. North Adams, MA died Sunday August 12, 2012 at Sweetbrook Care Center.
He was born in North Adams, MA on October 17, 1920, son of Luigi and Elizabetta (Rosata) Irace. He attended Drury High School.
Henry was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Navy in Alaska, Aleutians, and South Pacific, participating in the battle of Okinawa.
He worked at General Electric Co for 17 years until his retirement in 1982. Before that, he was a crane operator for David Dean Construction for 24 years. Henry was a member of the Operating Engineers Union.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Henry was a member of the Frank Stiles Post #125 American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife was the former Shirley Beatrice Floyd who died on February 12, 2005. They were married on May 7, 1946.
Survivors include two sons-Louis Irace and his wife Jo-Ann of Stamford, VT and Floyd “Chip” Irace and his wife Linda of Port Orange, FL
Three grandchildren- James Irace of Readsboro, VT; Anthony Irace of Florida, MA; and Jennifer Irace of Pittsfield
Three great grandchildren- Logan, Henry, and Olivia
One sister- Rose Girardi of North Adams
Two brothers- Austin Rogge of Adams and John Irace of Newcastle, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Six sisters are deceased including Angelina Laino, Josephine Scalise, Philomena Richardello, Frances Louison, Mary Maselli, and Constance Briola.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Henry Irace will be celebrated Thursday August 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Thursday from 9-10:30 AM.
