Obituary for Marjorie Quimby

MRS. MARJORIE (DOW) QUIMBY, 88, of 44 Lois Street, North Adams died peacefully Saturday May 19, 2012 at Hillcrest Commons of Pittsfield.
She was born in North Adams on May 27, 1923 a daughter of the late Lawrence Dow & Aleatheabelle (Brundige) Dow . She attended schools in North Adams. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was also a chambermaid for several hotels in the area.
Mrs. Quimby was a member of the First Baptist Church, North Adams. She also served as a member of the Good Sam and No-be S0-be Mountaineers campers clubs of Northern Berkshire and Southern Vermont. She enjoyed playing cards and was an award winning Pastry Chef. She was also a leader of Button & Bows 4H Club.
Her husband Cecil M. Quimby died on November 16, 1991. They were married on May 28, 1941.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Quimby and his wife Norma of Hancock, Steven Quimby and his wife Anne of North Adams, two daughters, Jo-Ann Reed and her husband Richard of North Adams and Linda J. Quimby with whom she made her home.
She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jeff Quimby, John Quimby, Adam Quimby, Stephanie Quimby and Brian & James Reed, 5 great-grandchildren, a foster daughter, Dorothy Heath and three sisters, Lucille Estes of Williamstown, Dorothy Martin of North Adams and Christine Tower of Rowe, Ma. She was predeceased by a son Robert C. Quimby who died at the age of two months.



FUNERAL NOTICE: Private Graveside services will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Renal Dialysis Unit at BMC or to the Relay for Life through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams.
