Stanley M. “Mike" Uchman, 91, passed away January 9, 2015 at the Williamstown Commons. He was born April 20, 1923 in Adams, MA. Born to the late Aniela and Jakub Uchman, he was the last surviving of their 11 children.
Mike attended the Adams schools and worked 39 years at General Electric with a 29 year span of never missing a day of work. He rode his bike the 45 mile round trip to GE in Pittsfield numerous times and on his day of retirement. He was also a WWII veteran.
Mike’s love of the outdoors and being physically active included a lifetime of tennis, golf, biking, swimming, and cross country skiing. His daily routine included exercising at the YMCA right up until the age of 87. Above all, his family and faith were the hallmarks of his life. He lived a full life, guided by his Christian principles which were exemplified by his loving dedication to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Erika A.Uchman of 212 Notch Road, N.A. and two daughters, Elka Uchman and Brenda Iijima and her husband Toshi, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
There is no service at this time. A “Celebration of Mike’s Life” will be announced in the spring.
