Obituary for Rocco A. Quaglietti Sr.

Rocco A. Quaglietti, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 12, 2016. Born in Pittsfield on March 14, 1925, he was the son of Melfino A. Quaglietti, Sr. and Palmina Cacciagrano Quaglietti. Rocco was educated in the local schools and was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was employed by General Electric Company as a Production Control Coordinator in the Naval Ordnance Dept. for 38 years, retiring October 14, 1988. Rocco was a member and steward of the International Union of Electrical Workers #254 and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Club. After his retirement, he worked part-time as a driver for the former Otto Oldsmobile and also as a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross. He was frequently seen walking at the mall where he liked to socialize, but his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family, rarely missing a Sunday dinner. His wife, the former Katherine T. Mele, whom he married May 14, 1949, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church died March 21, 1983. He leaves a son, Rocco A. Quaglietti, Jr. and his companion, Maryann Bettencourt of San Jose, CA, a daughter, Debra Marie Oliver and her husband, Richard, of Malden Bridge, NY, a grandson, Michael A. Quaglietti of Sunnyvale, CA, a sister, Lucia Montini of Pittsfield and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Carlo, Dante, Alexander and Melfino Jr. and sisters Carmelina DiNicola and Mary Goodrich. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mt. Carmel Care Center of Lenox for their care, compassion and friendship.
