Obituary for Angeline M. Umbro (Galatte)

Angeline M. Umbro, 86, of Pittsfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 2, 2017.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 17, 1931, one of nine children of the late Nicholas and Angeline (Russo) Galatte. She was employed by the New England Telephone Company and AT&T as a telephone operator. She was a proud member of the Telephone Workers Union joining in 1950 and retired in 1989. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and St. Joseph’s Church, and was a member of the Mount Carmel Ladies Guild, ITAM Lodge and the Italian American Club. She enjoyed reading, learning Italian, baking Italian cookies, playing cards, swimming and watching the variety of birds that visited her deck. She loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.
Angeline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Umbro who died on March 8, 2017 and they were married on April 7, 1956 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Pittsfield. She leaves three daughters and a son, Mary Anne Lantz and her husband Jeff of Minnesota, Angel Lampiasi and her husband Terry of Pittsfield, Cathy Harbick and her husband Joe of Colorado and Vito Umbro and his wife Kristen of New Hampshire. Angie also leaves her beautiful grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kelly Lantz, Terra and Catherine Lampiasi, Tanner and Landen Harbick and Anthony and Vitorio Umbro and one great grandchild, Jacob Lantz. She was predeceased by one great granddaughter, Gabriel Lantz.

The family extends sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the Staff at BMC Cancer Center and HospiceCare in the Berkshires for the wonderful compassionate care, kindness and love she received. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the Home Instead Senior Care staff for their comfort, kindheartedness and healing hands.
