Obituary for Paul Francis Meaney Jr.

PAUL FRANCIS MEANEY JR., 75, of North Adams, MA died on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. He was born in North Adams, MA on May 23, 1942, son of the late Paul Francis Meaney, Sr. and Ruth Patricia (Quinn) Meaney. He attended the former Mark Hopkins Grammar School and graduated from the former St. Joseph High School, in North Adams in 1960. He then attended and graduated from the MA Radio and Electronic Technical School in Boston. He went on to work as a technician at Sprague Electric. He enlisted in the National Guard and became a large vehicle mechanic for the Guards in Pittsfield where he retired after 38 years of service.
Mr. Meaney was a member of the AMVETS and a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. He was an Eagle Scout Explorer and enjoyed hunting and fishing, seasonal camping and was an avid NASCAR Racing fan. He also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was an excellent handyman and loved to dance.
Mr. Meaney was married to the former Roberta Jean Andrews on September 10, 2005. Survivors include his wife as well as three children; Kellie Hatcher, Kimberly Mercurio and Mark Meaney, all from the state of Washington. He also leaves five grandchildren. He leaves three stepchildren, Jennifer Malloy, Edward Malloy, Katherine Brooks and seven step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Mary Ellen Perreault of Adams, MA, Anne Patricia Carruth of Nashua, NH and three brothers, James Anthony Meaney of Lenox, Gregory Richard Meaney and John Patrick Meaney of North Adams as well as nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Paul Meaney will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams, MA. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes, WEST Chapel - 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial with full military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to either the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
