JOHN PATRICK MACKSEY, 59 of North Adams, MA died on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was born in North Adams on September 6, 1958, a son of Barbara (Downey) Macksey and the late Lawrence "Toddy" Macksey. He attended St. Joseph’s schools and went on to graduate from Drury High School with the Class of 1976. He was co-proprietor of Sentury Roofing and Siding.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara, his son Joseph (Samantha Tanner) and their two sons Tanner and Dylan; two daughters, Sarah and Hannah. He also leaves behind his brother Peter (Pamela), nephew Rylan, his sister Susan, and niece Casey.
John lived his life to the fullest - skiing as fast as he could down the mountain, eating the spiciest of spicy foods, and zipping down the street on his motorcycle. If you needed your roof shoveled or an ear to bend he was your man. He enjoyed leisurely drives around town (even if it meant being late to an appointment), trips to the dump with his grandsons and loved taking junk and turning it into treasures. His laughter, smile and adventurous heart will be deeply missed by both his family and friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A private viewing will be held for family. A Celebration of his life will be held this Friday, January 5th , at the Holiday Inn North Adams from 3-6 pm-please bring your best John stories to share. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot at Southview Cemetery. Donations can be made in his memory to Pop Cares or do as John would and say hello to fellow neighbor.
