Obituary for Ralph E. Stroffolino

Ralph E. Stroffolino, 88, of Pittsfield, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on August 27, 1929 in Pittsfield, he was the son of Enrico and Mary Stroffolino.

Ralph married his wife, Concetta (Connie) Stroffolino (Aiello) of Pittsfield, on May 17, 1952 and shared 66 happy years of marriage. He leaves behind two daughters: Debra Watroba and Donna Sciola, two sons-in-law: James Watroba and Mike Sciola, and four grandchildren: Marisa Robbins, Stephanie Watroba, Amanda Sciola, and Michael Sciola.

Ralph obtained his education in Berkshire County and attended college for financial planning. He was an Enrolled Agent, Certified Financial Planner, Accredited Business Accountant, and Accredited Tax Adviser. He ran a private practice that became Tax Comp, a financial planning, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll business since 1974. Prior to that, he was a department manager for Grand Union for 14 years.

Ralph served two years active duty during the Korean War, 1951-1953 plus six years in Standby Reserves, 1953-1959. Active duty: 6 months in the Infantry at Fort Dix before being transferred to the Army Security Agency. He trained for 6 months in Radio Intelligence at Fort Devens, followed by one year in Germany serving with the Occupation Forces, as a Morse Code Interceptor.

Ralph was active at the Pittsfield VFW Post 448. He was the Accountant since 1985, Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors since 1994, and Adjutant for 4 years. He was the Treasurer and Trustee of American Legion Charitable Trust since inception in 1993, Chairman of the Finance Committee since 1994, and the Accountant at the Dalton American Legion Post 155 since 2006.

Ralph enjoyed watching sports, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox, walking, reading, listening to Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Tony Bennett, and spending time with his family.

Funeral Notice: Services will take place Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St. Agnes Church, 489 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226 with the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling Hours at the funeral Home will be Thursday, April 12, from 4-6 P.M.
