Obituary for Anna Mastrodicasa (Pascetta)

Anna Pascetta Mastrodicasa, 97 of Pittsfield passed away April 28, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on June 24, 1920, daughter of Antonio Pascetta and Concetta Federico Pascetta. At a young age she was brought to Italy where she grew up and attended school. She returned to Pittsfield with her husband, Gaetano, and children, Silvano and Floriana, in 1954.

Anna was employed as a seamstress in the Pajama Factory, the Coat Factory, and England Brothers where she learned to make slip covers. She loved to cook and sew for her family, especially her grandchildren, Jeanna, Christopher, and John. She was very proud of her four great-grandchildren, Enzo, Nolan, Scarlett, and Savannah, and looked forward to their visits.

Anna was a loving, caring, and proud woman. She was always there to help and give words of encouragement to everyone. Anna was self-reliant to the very end of her life. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Anna and her husband, the late Gaetano Mastrodicasa, were married August 4, 1940. They had been married 54 years when he passed away on January 11, 1995.

Anna is survived by her son, Silvano and his wife Judy, and her daughter, Floriana and her husband John J. FitzGerald. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jeanna Mastrodicasa and her husband Clay Sweger, of Florida, Christopher Mastrodicasa and his wife Becky, of California, and John A. FitzGerald, of Pittsfield; her great-grandchildren Enzo and Nolan Mastrodicasa, and Scarlett and Savannah Sweger along with many nieces and nephews here in the US and Italy.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Silvino Pascetta, and her sisters, Teresa Ceccomancini, Chiara Mastrodicasa, Regina D'Amore, Maria Coco, Rosa Salvitti, and Nicoletta Salvitti.

Funeral Notice: Services will take place Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm St., Pittsfield with the Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn, Administrator officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling Hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 5-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Christian Center in care of the funeral home.
