Obituary for Joseph William Kowalczyk Sr.

Joseph William Kowalczyk, 91, formerly of Dalton-Division Road, Pittsfield, MA died on Thursday, May 3 after a long illness.

Born in Broad Brook, CT on November 30, 1926, son of the late Stella and Tony Kowalczyk. He attended and graduated from Pittsfield High School. Mr. Kowalczyk was a contractor for over 40 years and was co-owner of Kowalczyk Builders. He served as a member of the Berkshire Builders' Association and was a proud member of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII.

Mr. Kowalczyk will be remembered most for being a loving and kind father, grandfather and great-grandfather enjoying his family who will miss him dearly.

In addition, he was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish while also enjoying bowling, golfing and traveling.

He is predeceased by his wife, Edith Kowalczyk, his brother, William Kowalczyk and sister, Edna VanValkenburg.

He leaves behind his sons, Joseph W. Kowalczyk, Jr. of Suffield, CT and his wife - Kathy and David L. Kowalczyk of Hinsdale, MA and his wife - Wendy. A brother, Richard Kowalczyk and his wife - Roberta of Pittsfield, MA and brother-in-law, Ray VanValkenburg of Dalton, MA. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Joey (wife - Kristen), Matt (wife - Ashley), Tim, Maddie (wife - Taylor) and Allie and great-grandchildren: Taylor, Sofia, Brian, Olivia and Claire.

Funeral Notice: Graveside Services will take place Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Pittsfield Cemetery (Pine Grove Section on Onota St.) with the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, officiating. Family and Friends are invited to meet inside the cemetery at 10:45 A.M. There are No Calling Hours.
