Obituary for Frank Joseph Segala

FRANK JOSEPH SEGALA, 90, of North Adams, MA died peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 8, 2018.
He was born in North Adams, MA on October 15, 1927 a son to the late Luigi and Maria (Segala) Segala. He attended schools in North Adams and completed his education at Drury High School.
Frank was a veteran of World War II served from January 1946 to July, 1947. He returned to North Adams first working at Sprague Electric until 1967 and then was employed at Beloit Corp. until retiring in 1993. He was also the owner of the former Segala Trucking for more than 45 years and worked part-time at Green Mountain Race Track. Frank then joined the staff at Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Homes in North Adams and Pittsfield where he was a dedicated funeral assistant.
Frank was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and the former St. Anthony of Padua Church where he served as head usher. He was a member of the Italian Fratellanza of CT where he served as president and treasurer. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #90 of Pownal, VT. Frank was also a member and past president of the Greylock Community Club. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and North Adams Steeplecats baseball fan. He enjoyed puzzles, horse-racing and especially enjoyed spending time with family.
His wife was Santina B. (Ceccarelli) Segala who died on June 26, 2013. They were married on October 30, 1948 in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Survivors include his daughter- Donna Marie Peters and her husband, Mark of Pownal, VT and two grandchildren- Alicia Couture and Andrew of Pittsfield, MA and Adam Peters of Swansboro, NC. He also leaves three great grandchildren including Ella Peters, Carter Peters and Christian Couture; and three sisters- Mary Therrien and her husband, Ernest of Florida, MA; Margaret Stefanski of Adams; and Jacqueline Cote and her husband, William of Adams and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters Angelina Downs and Catherine Griswold and four brothers- Louis Segala, John Segala, Joseph Segala and Jack Segala who died in infancy.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Frank J. Segala will be celebrated Friday July 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Thursday from 4-7 PM.
