Obituary for Charles Arthur Sanguinet

Charles Arthur Sanguinet, 88 of Lunenburg, MA died peacefully on Friday October 5, 2018 at Leominster Hospital.
He was born in North Adams, MA on September 23, 1930 son of Charles Roberts and Rachel (Circe) Sanguinet. He attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1949. Charles graduated from North Adams State College in 1953.
Following graduation, Charles served in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned to North Adams, where he taught at Brayton Elementary School, and then moved to Michigan for one year after marrying his first wife, Elizabeth Marie (Saltamartini) Sanguinet on August 11, 1956. She passed away on March 10, 1999.
Charles then moved to Greenfield where he taught elementary and middle school for 34 years until his retirement in 1991.
Charles was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams, Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield, and Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster. He was a member of the Mass. Teachers Association and served on its board of directors from 1980 to 1984. He was a past president and treasurer of the Greenfield Teachers Association. Charles was a member of REAM (Retired Educators Association of Mass.) and served as the treasurer of its Edith Stewart Chase Foundation. He enjoyed travelling and painting and was a member of the Deerfield Valley Art Association and the Leominster Art Association.
Survivors include his wife, Gerene B. (Melanson) (Maloney) Sanguinet whom he married on June 10, 2000; and two sons- Robert Charles Sanguinet and his wife, Jacqueline of Leominster, MA and John Joseph Sanguinet and his wife, Eleanor of Plymouth, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren including William Sanguinet, Jamie Sanguinet, Renee Sanguinet and Sean Sanguinet; a step daughter- Gisele Maloney; a stepson- Grant Maloney; four step-grandchildren- Andrew Shepherd, Marie Shepherd, James Maloney, and Ryan Maloney; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and one brother including Joan Nichols, Phyllis Bullett and Robert Sanguinet.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Charles Sanguinet will be celebrated Thursday October 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St. Leominster, MA. Burial will be at a later date in Southview cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours at Curley-Marchand Funeral Home, 89 West St. Leominster, MA are Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to “The Edith Stewart Chase Foundation”.
