Obituary for Gordon Reid Morrison

Gordon Reid Morrison, 95 of Williamstown, MA died peacefully Friday October 19, 2018 at his home. He was born in North Adams, MA on March 29, 1923 son of James S. and Mary G. (Reid) Morrison.
He attended schools in North Adams, until moving to Williamstown in 1937, where he graduated from Williamstown High School in 1941. Gordon was a decorated veteran of WWII, where he served in the US Army as a private with the 46th Medical Detachment General Hospital in Africa and France. He went on to work as a foreman for 33 years with General Cable and later with Carol Cable, both located in Williamstown, until his retirement in 1985.
Gordon was a member of the Williamstown American Legion, where he was an active member of their funeral detail. He was a member of the Christian Science Church of North Adams.
He was the widower of Jane Ann (Bastien) Morrison, whom he married in October 1948. She died on April 19, 2009.
Survivors include his son James G. Morrison of Williamstown, MA; daughters Linda J. Morrison of Jamestown, RI; Lois A. LaCasse and her husband, Dennis of Pittsfield, MA; and Mary R. Barber and her husband, Paul of Hanson, MA; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters Alice Bratcher, and Jeannie Lemieux both of Williamstown, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers James, Leonard, and Robert Morrison.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gordon Morrison will be celebrated on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 11:00am at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel, Williamstown, MA. Full military honors will follow at the Veteran’s Circle at Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
