Dominic F. Salvatore, 97 of 2 Clark Road, Dalton, MA passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield on October 10, 1921 a son of the late Belisoro and Genevra (Liberati) Salvatore. He attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942.
Dominic was employed by General Electric Co. for 35 years and retired in 1981 from the Power Transformer Dept. as a production coordinator. He was then employed part-time at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home for many years. He was a veteran of World War II in the United States Navy and was assigned to Submarine duty.
He was a communicant of the former Mt. Carmel Church and was presently a communicant of St. Agnes Church. Dominic was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club and Pensioners Club, the former Central Berkshire Holy Name Society, Father William Contino Italian American War Veterans Post 75, V.F.W. Post 448 of Pittsfield, Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge No. 564 of Pittsfield, Italian American Club, and a former member of the Monday Night Bocce League at the Italian American Club and Wednesday night Bocce League at the Dalton American Legion. Dominic enjoyed bocce, traveling and spending time with his family and was a New York Yankees baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Salzarulo and they were married on June 11, 1949 at Mt. Carmel Church; his son, Dominic T. Salvatore and his companion Gail Lennon of Cheshire; his daughter, Donna Marie DiGennaro and her husband Thomas of Dalton; his granddaughter, Jennifer Faulconer of Dalton; his two great-grandchildren, Madison and Morgan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Victor Salvatore and three sisters, Lisa James, Antoinette Bartell and Jessie Teti.
Funeral Notice: Calling Hours will be Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 4-7 P.M. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Services will be Monday, October 29, at 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Church, 489 Main St., Dalton, MA with the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor Officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
