Obituary for Thomas James Martin

THOMAS MARTIN, 59 of Walpole, MA died on November 12, 2018 in Biddeford Pool, ME. Mr. Martin was born on April 8, 1959 in Marlborough, MA, a son to Dr. John J. Martin and the late Agnes Therese (Morel) Martin. He attended schools in Williamstown, graduating from Mt. Greylock Regional High School in 1977, where he played on the varsity soccer and hockey teams and was a member of the Madrigal singers. After high school he attended Hobart College and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics.
Mr. Martin married Marianne Gibson and they raised their family in Walpole, MA, where he coached youth hockey. Tom loved sailing with his family and spending time at the beach in Biddeford Pool, Maine. He was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots and was a long time season ticket holder, attending many games with his children. Tom was also a gifted musician and sang in the church choir. Tom had a highly successful career in sales and marketing, holding executive positions at numerous IT companies, most recently as a senior consultant for competitive intelligence at Dell-EMC.
Survivors include his father, John J. Martin, MD, his wife, Marianne and three children, Benjamin, James and Emily. He also leaves his siblings, Edward Martin, MD and Linda Reznik of Cranston, RI; Kathryn Martin, MD and David Systrom, MD of Winchester, MA; John Martin Jr., MD and Forrest McSurdy of Key Biscayne, FL; Susan Martin, PMHNP and Michael Welch of Portland, ME; Ann and Peter Pfister of Rowayton, CT; Tricia and Harry Raphael of Needham, MA; and James and Melissa Martin of North Andover, MA. He leaves behind 9 nieces, 7 nephews and 3 aunts.
FUNERAL NOTICE CALLING HOURS A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Thomas Martin will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Saints Patrick and Raphael Church in Williamstown, MA. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday, November 16th, from 5-7 at Flynn & Dagnoli Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, MA 01247.
