Condolence: I sure wish I could have been there today! I have tons of uniformity favorable memories of baseball basketball and football with Skeeter. His attitude was always superb, always smiling, always kind. One day in peewee football we drove Coach Fred Thompson crazy during the game. I was the quarterback and Skeeter was the half back. It was the end of the game and Coach Thompson sent in instructions for me to “sleep” on the ball, meaning, take a knee and let the clock run out. I was crazy enough to talk with Skeeter in the hospital and we decided to do a “sweet sleep.” Stewart Courtney hike the ball to me and I pitched at the skater who acted like he was going to do a sweep around the end, but instead took a couple of steps and then collapsed like he had been shot. That was pretty dangerous but I will always remember it! My prayers and condolences to everyone. —Dio
