Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Mahar (Circe)

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Circe) Mahar 96, of North Adams died Saturday November 24, 2018 at Brookdale Fillmore Pond in Bennington, VT.
She was born in North Adams on December 20, 1921 a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Alice (King) Circe. Betty graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1939 and was employed for 28 years at the Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as key puncher in the data processing Department. She was devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former communicant of Notre Dame Church and later at St. Elizabeth Church both in North Adams. She was the Past President and an active member of the LeCercle Francais Club and was the only member that had two daughters who also served as president of the club. She was a member of the North Adams American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Sprague Electric Gold Card Club. Betty enjoyed knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, quilting, and traveling.
Her husband Raymond Francis Mahar whom she married October 26, 1941 at St. Francis Church in North Adams died August 10, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters Ann Loraine Conroy of Adams and Judith Ann McConnell of North Adams, and a son Thomas Robert Mahar of North Adams. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law Lorraine Ronan of North Adams. She was predeceased by a son Raymond Francis Mahar Jr., grandson Brent Bailey, two brothers William and Robert Circe.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday November 29, 2018 at 11AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Thursday from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.
