Obituary for Ellis Anthony Rud

Ellis Anthony Rud, 63 of New Ashford, MA died Tuesday November 27, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Utica, NY, son of Marianne (Ellis) Rud and the late Anthony Rud. He attended schools in Stockbridge, Richmond and Pittsfield. He graduated from Taconic High School and then went on to the Florida Institute of Technology where he received two degrees, one in environmental science, one in commercial diving.
He was an Eagle Scout, and was involved for many years with Search and Rescue. Ellis was last employed by the Massachusetts Dept of Conservation and Recreation as park ranger on top of Mt. Greylock until his retirement. He also worked for many years at the former Berkshire Learning Center as the director of their Outdoor Education Program.
He was a member and past President of the Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club. Ellis loved the outdoors and was a careful steward of the environment.
Survivors include his mother, Marianne (Ellis) Rud of Pittsfield, MA and his beloved wife, Flavia Rose Mastellone. He also leaves his daughter, Ellen Rud Gentile of Houston, TX; a grandson, Patton Gentile of Houston, TX; two stepchildren, Emily Mastellone-Snyder of Santa Cruz, CA and Nicholas Snyder of Pittsfield; a brother, A.G. Rud of Pullman, WA and a niece, Rachel Rud.
Ellis was true and steadfast, a man of the highest integrity. He will be sorely missed by his family.
