Obituary for Viola Dorothy Caruso (Brewer)

Viola Dorothy (Brewer) Caruso, 98 of Readsboro, VT died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born in Houlton, ME on December 30, 1919 a daughter of Herman and Bertha (Foster) Brewer. She attended schools in Maine.
Viola went on to work for the Town of Readsboro for 37 years, where she served in various capacities, including Town Clerk/Treasurer, Secretary of Selectman, and Cemetery Commissioner. Together with her late husband, they also established the Caruso Lumber Mill in Readsboro.
Viola was a communicant of St. Joachim’s Church in Readsboro, VT, and was a member of its St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed being a member of the Jacksonville Senior Citizens, and she loved quilting, sewing, and was very devoted to her family.
She was the widow of Anthony John Caruso Sr., whom she married on December 25, 1939. He died on December 1, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters Mavis Durbin of Oil City, PA; and Patricia (Ken) Pangborn of Midland, ME; a son Anthony John (Annette) Caruso Jr. of Readsboro, VT; six grandchildren Emily (Roy Iggulden) Durbin; Stacy (John) Creswell; Jennifer (David) St. Sauver; Cory (Michele) Pangborn; Tammy Peters; and Cheree (Scott) Caruso-Villeneuve; fifteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law Mildred Brewer; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters including Annie Foster, Stella Drew, Clara West; and Marian, Walter, Harry, Willis and Herbert Brewer, as well as her great grandson Samuel Creswell, and her son-in-law Harrison Durbin.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Viola Caruso will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Joachim’s Church in Readsboro, VT.
