I went to college with John Hickey from 1953 to 1955. He was a great person and we all liked him. I was delighted when my daughter Jessica Carlin Richard married Chad Richard and moved to North Adams because now I could see Hickey once in a while. We did have a couple of good visits and then he got sick and didn't want to see anybody! That was too bad because I was transferred to Wisconsin in 1963 to replace a man who had the same terrible disease Hickey had. I have a very vivid memory of the 2 years I took this man around Wisconsin with me, John Hickey did not leave us easy! I remember that John was raised by his father. I have a picture in my mind of seeing his father and sister arriving in Boston for the graduation, They were driving one of the last Kaiser/ Frasure cars built, never knew anybody else who had one especially that color. In Addition thanks to John Hickey I graduated from Wentworth with a black eye thanks to John, We were driving through a tough section of Boston just before graduation, a bunch of us , and John yelled something out the window and i told him to be quiet. He said you are always telling me what to do and punched me in the eye . Thanks John, I forgave you! One last thing, I graduated, went to Navy flight training, after that I was sent to Newfoundland. John went in the Air force and was sent to Limestone, ME., Let me tell you that was a lot better duty than NFLD.. He was in charge of the airplanes in the flying club, He also became a pilot and on his way home to North Adams in a T-34 landed in Turners Falls, Mass. , probably due to bad Weather or something. He called my parents in Bernardston, Ma and they went over to Turners, picked him up, fed him put him up for the night and brought him back to Turners in the morning. That's how we found out he was in the Air Force! I liked John Hickey he was a good man and I'm sorry I couldn't spend more tome with him, we had a lot of sea stories and lies to swap that never reached fruition! John, Fair Skys and following seas to you! God Bless you! .
