Theresa (Betourney) Garofano, 96 of North Adams, MA died on Monday, February 18, 2019 at her home.
She was born in North Adams, MA on January 21, 1923 a daughter of Joseph and Maria (LePage) Betourney. She attended schools in North Adams, including Notre Dame Parochial School.
In her younger years, Theresa was employed at Sprague Electric Company for a short time, before joining the New England Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She later returned to Sprague Electric Company where she worked for 17 years, until 1967. Theresa was last employed at the Boston Seafood Restaurant and Boston Fish Market in North Adams, where she worked for 14 years until her retirement in March 1994.
Theresa was a communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, and a former member of the Notre Dame Adult Society.
She was the widow of Edward George Garofano, whom she married on June 22, 1946. He died on November 6, 1981.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Marie Garofano of North Adams; as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister Rita Lepel, and a brother George Betourney.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Theresa Garofano will be celebrated Thursday February 21, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in the spring in Southview Cemetery.
