Melissa Rae (Hotte) Jantas, 49 of North Adams, MA died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, surrounded by her family, at her home. She was born in South Burlington, VT on October 1, 1969, a daughter of the late Raymond John and Willa (Johnson) Hotte. She attended schools in North Adams, MA, graduating Drury High School with the class of 1987. She then attended McCann Technical High School of Cosmetology. She was employed at the Clip Shop in Williamstown. After she attended Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH where she obtained her Associates Degree and served several years with the Franciscan Order of Nuns in Three Rivers, MA. She was last employed in Ludlow in childcare, working until her illness.
Melissa was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Longmeadow. She enjoyed archery, art and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Ania Katarzyna Jantas, her stepmother, Sandra Mc Laughlin- Hotte of Pittsfield as well as two sisters, Deborah Durant and her husband David Jr., of Portland, ME and Laurie Singer and her significant other, Corey Shafer of North Adams. She leaves nieces and nephew, Rebeccah Durant, Hannah and Hayden Singer and Zoey Shafer. She also leaves three step brothers, Matthew, Daniel and Michael McLaughlin all of Pittsfield, and her former husband, Wladyslaw “Walter” Jantas.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Melissa Jantas will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, MA. Calling hours will be held from 11a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held in the Mount View Cemetery in Orwell, VT.
