Obituary for Jeanne Lucille LaBonte (Duhamel)

Jeanne Lucille (Duhamel) LaBonte, 79, of North Adams, MA died suddenly on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in North Adams, MA on December 2, 1941 a daughter of Oscar A. Duhamel and Adrienne O. (Campagna) Duhamel. She attended Holy Family School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School with the Class of 1960. She was last employed by Price Chopper Super Market in Pittsfield until her retirement. Before that she and her husband owned and operated the Ashland Street Mini Mart for about 20 years.
Jeanne was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams where she was an active member of the Adoration Society. She enjoyed trips to the casino and her daily scratch tickets. Jeanne enjoyed 22 cruises with her husband, family and friends. She loved taking care of her grand dogs, Ticket and Modena.
She was the widow of Arthur George “Buster” LaBonte who she married on June 15, 1963. He predeceased her on April 16, 2013. Survivors include her four daughters; Michele L. Vareschi and her husband, Lee of North Adams; Cheryl N. Truskowski and her husband, John Jr. of Readsboro, VT; Leslie J. Hyte and her husband, Anthony of Hinsdale, MA; and Denise A. France and her husband, Maver of Moneta, VA. She also leaves eight grandchildren- Tyler “TJ” Vareschi, Owen V. Vareschi, Brandon A. Hyte, Alea J. Hyte, Amy Bantjes, Lori France, Tina Nesselrodt and Ronald France; nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters; Lillian Peck, Irene Reed and Elaine Hanselman and a brother, Richard “Duke” Duhamel.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jeanne LaBonte will be celebrated Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7 PM at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street North Adams, MA.
