Shirley Theresa (St. Peter) Polidoro, 90, of Pittsfield, MA passed away peacefully with grace to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by loving family.
She was born in Pittsfield, MA on August 12, 1930, the daughter of Joseph Arthur and Delena (Roy) St. Peter. She attended the former Notre Dame Grammar School and graduated from St. Joseph's High School.
Earlier in her life Shirley was employed at Al's Variety and then at The Berkshire Life Insurance Company in various positions. The greatest part of her life was spent primarily as a housewife and mother devoted to raising and caring for her family. Later in life, she worked in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart School and helping at a local bridal shop. Shirley was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Ladies Guild and Choir at the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Frank P. Polidoro who died on January 19, 2018. They were married on June 2, 1951 and raised a loving family of 10 children together. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, music, dancing, and cake decorating for family and friend’s special occasions such as weddings and birthdays. She was especially fond of visits with her brothers and dear friends, but most of all hearing from, talking to and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her 10 children- Thomas (Connie) Polidoro of St. Augustine, FL; Gail (James) Peterson of Brattleboro, VT; Judy (Michael) Bernardo; Michael (Donna) Polidoro; Sharon Polidoro (Richard Pidgin); Ricky Polidoro; Cindy Polidoro (Donald Suriner), all of Pittsfield; Geoffrey (Mary) Polidoro of Larkspur, CO; Diane (Paul) Miller of Loudonville, NY, and Sandy (Kenneth) Graves of Clifton Park, NY. She also leaves 28 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 6 great, great grandchildren; Her brothers- Robert St. Peter of Pittsfield and Norman (Gigi) St. Peter of Unionville, CT along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to her aides - Alyssa, Dawn, Donna, Marie, and Wendy that gave her loving care and kindness this past year; to her Doctor Patricia Lehmann; to Elder Services of Berkshire County and to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, Inc.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Shirley Polidoro will be celebrated Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Pastor Emeritus Reverend Peter A. Gregory officiating. A Private Family Burial Service will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. A Livestream of the services will be available at Flynn & Dagnoli Facebook Page. Due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions a Celebration of Shirley’s Life is being planned for a later date.
