Obituary

Cecile Mae (White) Love 105, a lifelong resident of New Ashford, MA. died on Saturday February 6, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born on the family farm in New Ashford on June 30, 1915 a daughter of the late Forrest and Estella (Nichols) White. Cecile attended the New Ashford One Room Schoolhouse, and went on to graduate from the former Williamstown High School. In her early years she and her late husband Saul were the caretakers for the Mt. Greylock Bascom lodge in the 1940's.
Cecile was a longtime member of the Second Congregational Church in South Williamstown. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great- great grandmother. For those who know her she was known to bring her high heels with her where every she went, she loved talking on the phone and knitting items for everyone in the family. Her husband Saul G. Love whom she married September 15, 1932 died June 18, 1990. Survivors include her children, David D. Love (Bette) of Tully, NY; Priscilla Haig (Jack) of New Ashford; Linda Seney (Allen) of New Ashford and Mary Thornber (Carl) of Vancouver, WA. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren and was affectionately known as Gimmie. She was predeceased by two brothers Forrest White Jr. and Robert White.
With the help of her loving family she was able to remain in her home, stubborn and independent, until a fall that caused a broken hip ending her up in BMC. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors in the emergency room, her surgeon Dr. Miller and the nurses that cared for her. She was treated with respect and kindness. In her remembrance of her, hug the ones you LOVE.
Graveside services will take place Saturday February 13, 2021 at 10AM at the Southlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, MA. Memorial donations are suggested for the Second Congregational Church or the New Ashford Volunteer Fire Department trough the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home-WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. A lovely lady who never missed a social gathering in Hancock. Always present at church suppers, parties, and other personal gatherings and seemed to know everyone. A close family friend who had a long and active life. Blessings and condolences to all her family. Judy and Don Whitman, Hancock
