LAWRENCE C. LEVIN, 1937-2021
Lawrence C. Levin, passed away at age 83 on February 13, 2021, at home in Pownal, VT, surrounded by his loving family and faithful dog. A lover of nature, he spent many hours hiking and kayaking at his family cabin on Lake George, NY.
Born in New Rochelle, NY, Mr. Levin graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Ohio State University in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an entrepreneur, founder and President of Poly-Guard, Inc., manufacturer of plastic core plugs that he designed for the paper and plastics industry. He also founded Pomona Plastics, buying and reselling recycled plastic raw materials.
Lawrence survived non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, thanks to a successful experimental bone marrow transplant treatment at age 49 at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston by Dr. Lee Nadler, research physician. As a cancer survivor, he devoted himself to raise money for the Jimmy Fund, the children’s cancer division, by participating for 10 years in the annual Pan-Mass Bicycle Challenge, a 2 day 200 mile event.
Mr. Levin is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ronnie Jane Levin; son Dr. Andrew Levin and wife of Brick, NJ; daughters Dr. Kimberly Levin, of Aspen, CO and Tamara Levin and grandchildren, Manakai and Koa of Conifer, CO; sister Francis Sisson, of St. Louis, MO.
