Obituary for Jennie Strange (Cozzaglio)
Jennie (Cozzaglio) Strange (90) passed away on February 16, 2021, in Bedford, New Hampshire.
Jennie was born in North Adams, MA, on August 7, 1930, the daughter of Michael D. and Maria Rosina Cozzaglio. She attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1950.
Jennie worked at James Hunter Machine Company for many years. She was last employed by Ames Dept. Store in North Adams until her retirement in 1990.
In her day, Jennie was very socially active with the St. Anthony Rosary Society, Italian Girls Club, Socialette Club, and with golf, bowling leagues, and as a Girl Scout leader. In her retirement, she was a member of the Clarksburg Seniors, enjoyed yoga and exercise classes at the Spitzer Center, and was proud to serve the community, including as a volunteer with the SteepleCats and North Adams Regional Hospital. As well, she accompanied her husband and friends to provide musical entertainment at local nursing homes.
Jennie was the beloved wife and soul mate of the late Jay L. Strange, and loving mother to Steven Strange and his wife Kathy of Naperville, IL, and to Kathleen Strange of Francestown, N.H. She was a cherished grandmother of Matthew Strange and his wife Alicia of Aurora, IL, and Nicholas Strange of Naperville, IL; dear great-grandmother to Isaiah, Noah, Lia, and Jeremiah; and fond aunt of many. Jennie was predeceased by three brothers including William Cozzaglio, Battista "Gino" Cozzaglio, and Gino Cozzaglio who died in infancy.
Jennie was a ray of sunshine with a smile and kind word for everyone she encountered. Selfless, caring, loving, funny, sweet, and always thoughtful are the words her many friends and family use to describe her. And she had "the best laugh ever." She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jennie Strange will be celebrated Tuesday February 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Monday from 4-6 PM. Covid rules and social distancing will be required. A private burial will follow at Southview Cemetery.. A memorial service will be planned for later in the spring or early summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary or the Sonsini Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
